A strange victory
The terrorist attacks in and around Paris in January 2015 raised significant questions about how different sectors of society can live together, while the demonstrations that followed gave a heartening example of solidarity and the core values of the French republic. Libraries, like schools, have a role to play in shaping tomorrow's society while providing a vital democratic platform for all voices, even discordant ones: they are crucibles for human values, both universal and diverse.
