Representing libraries in film
The present article is an abridged version of the author’s dissertation on how libraries are represented in film. It looks at a corpus of 27 films, focusing particularly on two points: how libraries appear on screen and the role they play in the narrative. The study concludes that the way libraries are represented in film reflects their place in the collective imagination – a place influenced by their history and heritage.
