And now what shall I do? From reader surveys to library charters

The Roubaix multimedia library marked its thirtieth birthday in 2009 by commissioning a reader survey to measure and analyse its impact in real terms, both on the local population and in the wider region. The results highlighted the challenge to library use posed by the internet and underlined the need for a new library charter proposing a new reader orientation policy. The suggestions put forward include renovating library premises, staff training measures, and the implementation of free loans, to bring library services in line with the expectations and habits of a modern readership.
