Study of the presence of mould in a library stackroom

In order to try to understand the distribution of mould spores in a library stackroom, and the risks involved when humidity increases, some analyses of contamination have been carried out every three months, for two years. The results show a large irregularity in the number of spores in the atmosphere over the period and according to the place where the samples were taken. In addition, about half of the species encountered seem to be installed in the place, whereas the other half is composed of species that are short-lived and dispersed. The greatest diversity of fungal contaminants is situated in the zone close to a blower drawing in filtered air from outside.
