Networks of libraries across countries: French and Spanish models
This article reports a short study of library networks across countries: origins, characteristics, functions and development. The Spanish network of the libraries of the Instituto Cervantes is compared with that of audiovisual libraries and information centres in contemporary France. Spanish services in France and French services in Spain are described, and the creation of the new Institut Ramon Llull is mentioned; its aim is the dissemination abroad of Catalan language and culture.
