Some French perspectives with regard to libraries: a Swedish view
For the last ten years or so, cooperation between France and Sweden - education (Enssib et Bibliotekshögskolan) and professional training - has been important. This article mentions some Swedish (and also Scandinavian) attitudes to France, notably the professional debates that allow France's cultural evolution to be traced. It shows how Swedish library and information science researchers study French cultural policies. The debate on a law for libraries - always as intense in Sweden as in France - is commented on. The article ends with some personal impressions of certain French libraries, including virtual libraries.
