Convergence: the United Kingdom perspective
This paper traces the organisational changes associated with the merging of library services and computing services, with other academic support services, in UK universities. It considers the theoretical and practical justification for convergence, and assesses the advantages and disadvantages. Key characteristics of converged services are analysed, and key issues in the process of convergence and the organisation development of converged services are examined. Some possible structural models are considered.
