The multimedia sites at Lisieux public library

Since October 1996, users of Lisieux public library have been able to access the Internet on a computer dedicated to this service. This adds to the installation, four months earlier, of a multimedia station for the general public to consult, a digitized photographic archive and a computerized library, on cd-rom databases. This equipment was supplemented in July by the creation of an Internet site using the town's colours and dedicated to computer literature. If it is a result of fashion that a small public library has succumbed to the Siren-call of the Web, it was nevertheless the anticipated and logical outcome of our work with digital media and supports since 1994.
