The paradox of the departmental lending libraries

There is a visible paradox of the departmental lending libraries in the fact that they want an architectural quality for their building, whereas they are not intended to receive public. In the most rural departments, such a building has a strong emblematic added value. It is at the same time an architectural mark and a guarantee of quality of a cultural service, for the local councillors in charge of it and for the public who enjoys its services. In Ardèche, it has been materialized thanks to a constant step of professionalism and quality through the intervention of many specialists, from the origins of the project till its functioning.
