Universities and libraries : a difficult union

Democratization of higher education did not go with a development of pedagogical methods. The result is a rate of failure of nearly 70 % within the first years. Tutorial classes are crowded, libraries are badly congested, and a strong protestation comes from the students. What can we do ? It would be necessary to put the library in the right place, at the centre of the university life, to open it more largely, to make it know better, and above all, to reorganize it. But in order to be successful, we must be able to pull the taboos down and to avoid ourselves hiding behind the opposition research-pedagogy.
