Periodicals and readers : trying to answer the public's expectations
Librarians often have difficulties in answering their patrons' questions, because they do not know where to find the information. The problem is even more important for general interest magazines. The French indexes and some American general periodical databases are described. Then, this article studies the possibility for extending an index now existing in the scientific library of the University of Caen to a library network.
