Why aren't they in our libraries ?
Having studied the rate of « desertion » of public libraries by children, we would like to underline the causal factors of this phenomenon. We can observe the influence of family an personal resources. The social environment acts as a filter, through wich the effects of the factors are studied. The durability of the commitment in the institution is related to reading. Lastly, the desertion of public libraries depends on the integration of children in the institution.
