An event to mark an event: the place of commemoration in libraries
Commemoration offers the ideal opportunity to reconsider or (re)discover events and the mark they made on history. In this light, the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War is itself an event of considerable magnitude: the way the commemoration is marked in libraries sheds light on the richly complex relationship between libraries and the concept of the event in all its diverse meanings.
