Visual impairment and RFID

The José Cabanis multimedia library in Toulouse, which makes a point of providing access to users with various forms of disability, has recently begun testing a new service designed to improve access for the visually impaired. It has installed RFID tags on all the items in the library so that they can be identified by speech synthesis, thereby opening the whole collection up to visually impaired users who are no longer limited in their choice of material.
