The digital knowledge bank in Aquitaine ten years on: bringing together heritage resources in the regions

The programme of the digital knowledge bank in Aquitaine is a perfect example of the trend to bring heritage collections and institutions together in digital form. The project, launched in 2000 by the regional cultural department and the regional council in Aquitaine, has already seen the completion of a number of programmes, including a thematic catalogue and digital library on prehistory, a digital library of resources on the Pyrenees, an inter-community multimedia library, a heritage service for books and archives in Pau, an archives hub covering Bayonne and the Basque country, and the International Prehistory Centre.
