Sitting and bending: the terminology of the body in multimedia libraries. Are we prepared for calm disorder?

Looking at libraries from the angle of the human body means asking what impact the bodily movements and positions encountered in multimedia libraries have on readers’ emotional experience, the way they look at the material on offer, and the service as a whole. What does this unwritten language tell us about how librarians and readers see the library and how it is opened up to the world outside? At a time when issues to do with the human body are becoming increasingly prominent in Western society, a study of dance and emotion sheds intriguing new light on libraries.
