The Public Library: an early teen’s perspective
The study examined the perceptions of more than six hundred teens in terms of their views of the Springfield/Green County Public Library in Missouri. The results of this study indicate that teens respond positively to updated libraries that offer inviting spaces, specialized teen areas, food services, and other amenities. Creating awareness of the library through the use of e-mail, Web sites, and postcards may enhance usage rates. By determining the perceptions of future users and supporters of the public library system, staff should be better prepared to implement marketing strategies to compete with alternative information providers.
