The collection is the star: the Val-d’Europe multimedia library

The plan to turn the spotlight on the collections of the Val-d’Europe multimedia library, opened in November 2007, arose from the desire to open up new paths to knowledge by giving readers direct access to documents and their contents. The plan, inspired by modern museum exhibition techniques, was developed in several stages, from drawing up the programme to hiring a set designer, selecting suitable equipment, and bringing in extra staff members. There were also phases of doubt before the plan came together as “Toute la ville en parle!”, a remarkable event that was part museum exhibition, part outreach programme, in which the library’s collections were given a starring role.
