LIBER: what libraries for the Europe of tomorrow?

LIBER, the Association of European Research Libraries, whose objective is to represent and defend libraries interests and act on their behalf, has four divisions (Access, Preservation, Collection Development, Library Management and Administration) and a permanent secretariat. Its strategic four-year plans are based on four major issues (academic communication, library services, library management, services and opportunities available to members of LIBER) necessitating close collaboration with other European associations. The author presents current and future projects, and calls for more French involvement in the association.
