The Maps and Plans Department at the French National Library
The collection of maps and plans at the French National Library, the most important in France, is made up of historical collections, from the legal deposit of maps, plans, atlases, globes and geographical games –and from now on, those on the Internet–; and of documents arising from a sustained acquisition’s policy. The department compiles the cartographic documents supplement for the French National Bibliography, develops scientific activities linked to cartography and actively enhances the collection and its catalogue, notably through digitization
