Author's right: an obstacle to the freedom of information?

As with the copyright system in place in certain countries, the system for author's right has as its aim the balance between private interests (the rewards of creativity) and public interest (the growth of knowledge), established thanks to a time limit on the monopoly afforded to authors and to a range of exceptions. This balance is under threat today. The author of the article notes these tendencies and gives and account of an unclear situation.
