Silence and accounts about the public for national heritage
The author of the article analyses the discussions about heritage collections and their public. She stresses that if the sociology of publics has been considerably developed over the last 20 years, the public for national heritage has never been the object of a study. Surveys have paid them little attention. Neither the annual statistical tables from the Direction du livre et de la lecture, nor integrated library management systems have been adapted to meet their needs.
