Hungarian libraries in 2004
Four major changes were introduced through library legislation ratified by the Hungarian parliament in 1997 : a definition of public libraries, the creation of a Library institute at the National Library, the creation of an inter library loan system and the requirement for continuing education for professionals. The article describes the Hungarian library network and its missions. It ends with an overview of staff training.
