Workplace multi-media libraries in their environment

Workplace multi-media libraries throughout their long history have acquired a legitimacy which can be summed up in one word: proximity. The author of this article examines the different facets of this concept: the ideas of space, time, relationship, affinity and integration. However, the lack of cultural awareness on the part of trade union confederations since the signing of the Charter for the development of reading in the workplace, and the absence of accounting for their annual statistics by the Ministry of Culture has led to the invisibility of the work of a truly unique institution.
