A service of very great proximity: the Info mobile in Paris VIII

In such a vast building, a public service had to be invented that was supplementary to the traditional information bureaux, which students do not fully recognize. Volunteer librarians for an "Info mobile" service essentially reach over the shoulder of the users of information workstations, as much in order to remind them of the rules of using electronic resources as to help them with information retrieval by observation of individual strategies. Thus the dual-function librarian (both oracle and nomad) should be able to continue his role of mediator in the flesh, along with the electronic mediation of remote services; but at the expence of voluntarism, not to say self-sacrifice, that are difficult to carry out.
