The Médiathèque musicale de Paris fifteen years on: experiment with no tomorrow or concept of the future?

An institution dedicated to music in all its forms, the Médiathèque musicale de Paris, victim at one and the same time of a shortage of space and of an ever growing number of users, is having more and more difficulty in fulfilling its missions: should it maintain its present form, or accept that it should dissociate itself from public reading (lending) of the specialist collections (reference and conservation library)? Such is the issue at stake for its survival.
