Reflections on University Libraries and Their Patrimony

Regularly, the situation regarding heritage at the heart of French university libraries has been the object of anxious interrogation: are the efforts of university, of central administration and of librarians themselves are at the height of the stake that constitutes these exceptional riches, too often ignored ? This article attempts an assessment, in explaining the grounds for this relative disaffection, and offers some pragmatic solutions that would allow this heritage to be returned to its rightful place.
