The Renovation of a French Library in London

From a reminder of the generic missions of French libraries abroad, the outlines of the renovation of the library of the Institut français de Londres are retraced, around the idea of the public library. This article endeavours to underline the crucial role played by the teams in place and by the recognition of the importance of libraries, during this period, by the Ministry for foreign affairs. At the close of this account, the author stresses what has appeared to her to be the particular difficulties of this network, with regard to man, to the perennial nature of these projects and to participation in documentary networks.
