Information Spaces: Elements of Programming
French guides to library programming, though rich and precise, nevertheless leave out the reference function. Now, comprising the group of activities for the mediation of information, this function comes within the space of British and Scandinavian libraries, and frequently can be found at the entrance to buildings. The resources vary according to the size and nature of the establishment, but the assertion of this use of the library represents, more than ever, a necessity conforming to its missions. The recent initiative by one of the large regional libraries suggests a rapid evolution, which can reinforce the foreign examples.
