A Cartography of Illustrious Men: Towards an Authority List of "Personalia"
The development of written patrimony rests on implicit arguments which, in fact, often leave a place for personal interpretations, notably when concerned with literature. The definition of the "local" author is without doubt the most common librarianship problem, but the most variously resolved. From its experience with the Bibliographie bourguignonne, the municipal library of Dijon developed, under the name of R.A.B.U.T.IN, an authority list of its regional collections whose function is explained. This work called for a development in regional co-operation and internal reflection in order to adapt to the conservation objectives that regulation as a whole applies to patrimonial collections.
