After the Catastrophe: the Future of the Collections of the Lyon 2-Lyon 3 Central Library

After the fire that ravaged the collections of the Lyon 2-Lyon 3 central library, a difficult salvage and an evaluation of losses were rapidly conducted. This reflection has allowed the development of a plan of documentary adjustment in partnership with the common documentation services of the universities Lyon 2-Lyon 3, with a view to constituting in the first instance a reference library in a chosen number of disciplines. The proximity of a move into amenities in the Gerland quarter of Lyon drives one to bet on a renewed organization of collections and services, but will not erase the shock of a catastrophe that will have as much distressed those concerned as destroyed inestimable documentary heritage.
