Digital Information in Municipal Libraries: State of Play

This article gives the state of play regarding digital information in municipal libraries from the results of two inquiries conducted in 1998 by the Direction du livre et de la lecture du ministère de la Culture et de la Communication: in the first place, the annual statistical inquiry carried out on data from 1997 which establishes the outlook for the activities of municipal libraries; and secondly, the survey of available computer equipment, carried out every three years, which is essentially interested in the material and software resources of municipal libraries.
