Training Users of County Libraries
Generally without direct contact with the public, county libraries in France (BDP) are currently very involved in educating their users, who are those responsible for the regions local librairies. The training, which was not part of their initial mandate defined in 1945, has been progressively imposed during the 1980s at the same rate as the BDPS stopped their resupply campaign for books, in order to constitute a real network of public libraries in rural and suburban areas. The arrival of the Internet will quickly drive the BDPS into numerous changes in their training policy.
