Training for the Use of Information in High Education

From November 1997 to May 1998, a working group was set up to look at the theme of training for the use of information. Its brief was to propose an operational framework for the development of such training, resting essentially on three questions: which training for which users? How current structure responds to needs? What role must common documentation services assume in the initial education of students? Going by an inventory of fixtures established by the blueprint of the stakes, needs and practices, the recommendations which have been fixed revolve around three axes: to understand and develop experience ; to inscribe this training in the institution's contract ; to put to work a resource structure in order to apply action in the field.
