Mediation and the Profession of Student

The arrival of the notion of the «profession of student» in the university world is paradoxical. Numerous studies confirm the methodological, social and cognitive specificity of the university apprenticeship, but there exists little mediation in order to train with these «methods». Drawing on research conducted by the University of Toulouse-Le Mirail, the author describes the role of mastering these «learning methods» in insertion and success in the university. In addition, he envisages the placement strategies of diverse mediations which permit each student to develop his capacities for self-apprenticeship, factors in the mastering of the profession of student.
