The « Reading Towns » Operation in Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur
Under the joint initiative of the Préfecture de Région Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and the decentralized services of the State, the « Reading Town » operation, begun in 1991, has helped energize neighbourhoods and communities and reinforce networks in the struggle against illiteracy. The experience of Carros, in the Alpes-Maritimes region, illustrates the success of this process, as well as its difficulties, limits and perspectives.
