The Organization of Work: a New Challenge for University Libraries

The modernization of university libraries is underway. However, though it is relatively easy to put technology and computer processing into place, it is much more difficult to manage the changes that these things induce. Moreover, it is equally difficult to measure the impact on the public whose demands have grown in proportion to improvements made. This is why the organization of services relies on human resources and necessitates their complete participation: no plan has any chance of success if the men and women in the libraries do not integrate such plans into their daily routine.
