Readers'Messages : the Suggestion Book in the Library
Written communication is an essential, though unrecognized dimension of the relationship between library users and library professionals. From a perusal of three suggestion books from public and university libraries, the present study departs upon an examination of their contents, seeking the functions assigned to these messages and to the corresponding responses. Through a succession of complaints, proposals and denunciations, the daily life of a library is unveiled.
