The Paradoxes of Success of a Public Library Policy
This article goes back over the recent, paradoxical history of public libraries in France by showing how, having reached the end of a process which has seen the growing recognition and success of libraries, the national policy towards public libraries has gradually deteriorated. In effect, this process has modified the very definition of public libraries and a certain number of systems and images, which had held together for around fifty years.
