The Heritage Collection of the French Institute
The creation of the collections in this library are explained by the history and the activity of the French Institute and the five academies of which it is composed. Since its origin, the endowments and grants from the State have been complemented by the gifts and legacies of private contributors. Today the collection of 7,700 manuscripts is principally enriched by the papers of academicians. As with many of its collections, the scientific domain is particularly well served for the eighteenth and especially for the nineteenth centuries.
