The Enrichment Policy of the Jacques Doucet Literary Library

The Jacques Doucet Literary Library is the result of a unique conjunction between the tireless curiosity of Jacques Doucet, couturier and patron, and the intrepidity of André Breton. Its holdings, of which it has some 56 collections, more than 120,000 manuscripts and over 35,000 rare books, comprise the world's richest accumulation of texts devoted to French literature from Baudelaire to the present day. A high place of heritage, the Library pursues an acquisition policy for its collections founded solely on a quest for excellence, as well as a policy designed to maintain its influence that is subject to the same standards of excellence.
