British University libraries and the Follett Report
The Follett Report appeared in December 1993. Since then the Higher Education Funding Council has provided large sums of money to develop electronic library services. Perhaps more importantly they have encouraged universities to consider the present and future role of their libraries. Libraries are briefly at the centre of the educational stage and have the opportunity and resource to define a future which combines traditional skills with an understanding of the nature of electronic resources.
