Screams and whispers

Cathedral of knowledge, temples of culture, libraries are usually devoted to a religious silence. The movement of modernization of public libraries has substituted this secular image for a new model, open, friendly, more frequented, where oral mediation is generalized and noise tolerated. A difficulty to make different publics live together, to make space for work and concentration, a claim for a hierarchical organization of objectives, a restlessness about the submission of the library to the confused row of the world, such are some of the effects and stakes we can identify by means of this auditory approach.
