Ten years of management in cultural concerns : a balance sheet useful for libraries

The idea of cultural concern emerged about ten years ago. During this period, management practices throughout entire pieces of the cultural sector have greatly changed ; on one part with the integration of concepts and methods from commercial economy, on the other part about the very conception of the professions themselves. This text presents at first a synthetic panorama of these technical and conceptual changes, and secondly tries to draw prospects as regards an already perceptible evolution in management practices within libraries : what are the stakes, the interests, the limits, the possible brakes ? Can research works and experience acquired in cultural concerns be mobilized to clarify the present proposals about library management, within handling techniques, but also, and above all, about the consideration about the role, the object.
