The National Diet library in the XXIst century : creation of the Kansai library

The National Diet library (created in 1948) plans to do a new building, set at about 500 km from Tokyo, in the Science city of Kansai. This Kansai library will have to become a perfect documentation and bibliographic information center using online services and new medias. It will have to extend this offer to the whole Japan and world, and establish a new cooperation between libraries. In short, it will be an immaterial library which will allow everyone, anywhere and at any moment, to obtain the document he looks for, or any information about it.
