Trend, weaknesses and perspectives of performances evaluation in libraries
A review of library on performance evaluation shows a high concentration of contributions on a goal achievement conception. This paper describes this approach and some of the discussions around it as they appear in library literature. The goal achievement approach is criticised on the basis of the inadequacy for libraries of the mechanistic conception of organisations it lies upon. Other aspects of performance, inspired from organisation theory, with examples for libraries, are then suggested.
