The Book : consumption or acquisition ?

The author, who is a publisher and a distributor, draws up a picture of book economy: the various publishing circles, from the big companies to the nebula of the small publishers; too many titles for light printing, tasks which cannot be part of an industrial chain, and a complicated distribution system. Heavy economic constraints are on the book. In front of the competition of the other communication means, the only way for the book is to keep its own identity and accept the weight of the past.
