Referring to a survey of the advice and information service of the public library in Massy, this article studies the problems of that kind of service, such as : public, collections, localization, relations with the other services of the library, and cooperation with outside organizations. The authors put a special emphasis on the idea that developing the information system in public libraries is a matter of necessity.
