The necessary library

Do we still need to build libraries, since it now appears possible to consult all kinds of documents on mobile platforms that allow users to download text, music, and videos as and when they like? The answer is yes, since the data overload created by the proliferation of websites makes it hard to find information, discouraging inexperienced users. The success of the internet and the creation of multiple remote access sources have not done away with the need for libraries as places to consult and borrow books and to work. Furthermore, libraries are a vital part of our social infrastructure, enriching democracy by creating public spaces open to all.
