A survey of users at the Paris 8 University Library
Librarians at Université Paris 8 carried out a user survey in 2007 to find out about user profiles and define the library's future priorities. User profiles are determined by the proximity of the readers' places of work or residence, how long and how often they have been using the library, and the time spent on university library premises. The study revealed a range of reader practices, falling into four main categories. As a place of work anchored in the local community and with a considerable social role, the library should strive to further strengthen its links with the local community, develop its courses training users to access the documentation they need, and strengthen collaborations with teaching staff.
